ZH Currtain ZM75 curtain motor high voltage control wiring guide

Why does the AC power curtain motor not respond after being powered on?

Customer: The 75 motor doesn’t respond after being plugged in, and I have a video showing this.

Tracy Yang Xiaocui:
Based on the video you provided, after plugging in the motor and pressing the motor’s set button, the motor does not respond, and the indicator light doesn’t turn on. This indicates that the motor is not receiving power, and the power board may be damaged, likely due to an unstable or excessive power supply.

Customer: The motor worked fine during pre-assembly testing, but after assembling it onto the track, it doesn’t run properly. Even after clearing the travel limit, the motor still vibrates and only moves slightly, similar to a jog mode, and sometimes doesn’t move at all.

Tracy Yang Xiaocui:
It’s likely that the clutch is damaged. I recommend returning it for repair or replacement with a new one.

Customer: The 83 Matter version motor cannot be controlled by the app.

Tracy Yang Xiaocui:
I suggest checking the travel settings to make sure it’s set to at least 1 meter for operation. Also, check if your iPhone version is iOS 16 or higher.
Customer: The issue is resolved; the travel was set too short.

Customer: The 83 offline voice motor doesn’t respond when I ask it to open in percentage mode. What’s the issue? (Video attached)

Tracy Yang Xiaocui:
From the video you provided, it seems that the motor is not responding in percentage control because the travel has not been set properly. You need to adjust the curtain’s open and close positions to set the travel limits before the percentage control can be used.

Customer: After changing the wake word for the 83 offline voice motor to “Living Room Curtain,” there is no response. What’s going on? (Video attached)

Tracy Yang Xiaocui:
We’ve already set 7 default wake words for you, including: “Smart Butler”, “Living Room Curtain”, “Living Room sheer”, “Dining Room Curtain”, “Dining Room sheer”, “Bedroom Curtain”, “Bedroom sheer” and do not need to be learned—they are already built into the system. You only need to say “Change wake up word,” and then you can set it to “Living Room Curtain.” After changing, the smart assistant will recognize “Living Room Curtain.” You can also teach it a local version of the wake up word or another variant if needed.
The “Learn new wake word” function cannot be used to learn already set default words.

Customer: The curtain opens but then automatically opens a little bit again. I tried resetting it, but it still doesn’t work.

Tracy Yang Xiaocui:
Delete the travel limits, then close the curtain. Place a 1-2cm object between the two pulleys to prevent them from colliding. Wait until the motor stops after hitting the limit, then remove the object and check if it still rebounds.
Customer: It’s fine now.

What should you do if the AC power curtain motor does not respond after being powered on? How to set up basic functions?

Customer: Why won’t the pulley on the transmission box move? The bearing on the transmission box doesn’t move when the belt is passed through it, what’s the reason?

Tracy Yang Xiaocui:
It’s normal for the pulley to not move if it is not matched with the motor. When the belt is passed through, the clutch is on top. The pulley moves, but the shaft does not.

Customer: The curtain motor can’t close, it stops halfway with obvious jamming and squeezing noises. How can this be fixed?

Tracy Yang Xiaocui:
First, check the track. Here are the steps:
Remove the motor.
Manually pull the curtain and see if it still gets stuck at the same point.
1. If it does, this indicates the track was slightly deformed during transport. We can use tools to restore it.
2. If it doesn’t get stuck, we’ll check the motor. Power on the motor and manually turn the motor shaft. If the motor always stops at the same position, delete the travel limits (press the motor’s setting button 5 times within 5 seconds). After waiting for one minute, try turning the motor shaft again to see if it still stops at the same position.
3. If it still stops at the same position, the motor has an issue. If it doesn’t, the motor’s travel limit was set to the wrong position. Then, reinstall the motor and reset the travel limits.

Customer: The curtain motor makes a “clicking” sound on both sides of the track when it reaches the middle. (Video attached)

Tracy Yang Xiaocui:
Clear the travel limits, and let the curtain run again. This should resolve the issue.

Customer: The ZM89 finished curtain motor track, the pulley can’t be moved. What’s the issue?

Tracy Yang Xiaocui:
The pulley not moving is likely due to the belt being too tight.

How to set basic functions for the AC power curtain motor?

Customer: Do all ZH motors have a timer function to turn on/off?

Tracy Yang Xiaocui:
All motors that support APP control have the timer on/off function.

Customer: How can I set the motor to stop at a specific position?

Tracy Yang Xiaocui:
1. If you have a remote control, you can set the limit with the remote:
A. Pair the motor with the remote: Turn on the motor, select the channel on the remote, then press the motor’s setting button once. The indicator light will stay on. Within 3 seconds, press the remote’s up button once, the motor indicator will flash quickly, and the motor will vibrate once, indicating successful pairing.
B. Control the curtain using the remote to move it to the desired position and stop. Then, press the remote’s setting button once, and within 3 seconds, press the remote’s up button once. The motor will vibrate once, and the limit setting will be complete.
2. If you don’t have a remote, use the motor’s stop-on-obstacle feature to set the position. Place a pin at the desired stopping point on the track. The curtain will stop automatically when it encounters resistance.

Customer: Does the motor have a manual pull-start feature, and can it be turned off? Can the remote turn off the manual pull-start feature?

Tracy Yang Xiaocui:
No, the manual pull-start feature cannot be turned off. The remote cannot disable it either. If you need this feature, it can be customized, but it requires a minimum order quantity.

Customer: How to change the direction of the curtain with the offline voice motor?

Tracy Yang Xiaocui:
Wake up the “Smart Butler” and say “Curtain change direction” or “Sheer change direction.”

Customer: For the 89 offline voice version motor, I have several rooms, such as the living room, bedroom, and dining room, with curtains and drapes. Will saying the command open or close all the curtains at once? Is there a way to control them separately?

Tracy Yang Xiaocui:
We’ve already set 7 default wake words for you, including: “Smart Butler”, “Living Room Curtain”, “Living Room Sheer”, “Dining Room Curtain”, “Dining Room Sheer”, “Bedroom Curtain”, “Bedroom Sheer”. Using the “Change Wake Up Word” function, you can change the wake word for the curtains in the living room to “Living Room Curtain” or “Living Room Sheer” and do the same for other rooms. This will allow you to control each room separately.

Customer: For the 89 offline voice motor, when I say “Open the curtain,” it closes instead. What should I do?

Tracy Yang Xiaocui:
Just give the voice command: “Change motor direction,” and the motor will reverse the curtain’s opening and closing direction.

Customer: I changed the wake up word for the 89 offline voice motor, but after some time, I forgot it. What should I do?

Tracy Yang Xiaocui:
No worries! The 7 default wake words are always available, no matter what you change, including: “Smart Butler”, “Living Room Curtain”, “Living Room Sheer”, “Dining Room Curtain”, “Dining Room Sheer”, “Bedroom Curtain”, “Bedroom Sheer”. If you forget which default wake word it is, you can simply say all 7 wake words, and one of them will work. Afterward, you can use the “Change Wake Up Word” or “Learn Wake Up Word” function to replace it with the wake word you want.

Customer: For the 89 offline voice motor, how do I set the command for a curtain with both curtains and sheers?

Tracy Yang Xiaocui:
You can directly switch the device type with voice commands, like saying “Open the sheers” or “Open the curtain.” The command will work accordingly.

What do the indicator light statuses mean for the lithium battery motor?

Customer: The lithium battery motor is flashing red and green, but it’s working fine. What does this mean?

Tracy Yang Xiaocui:
Is the charging cable plugged in while you are using the motor?
Customer: Yes.
Tracy Yang Xiaocui:
This likely means the battery is near full charge but still being used by the motor. It’s normal and doesn’t affect usage as long as the motor is functioning properly.

Customer: The motor ran for about 3 months and ran out of battery. I charged it around 10 AM today, but the light is still red, and it’s beeping with no other action.

Tracy Yang Xiaocui:
1. For lithium battery motors, refer to the motor’s yellow warning label for charging times. Generally, it takes about 6 hours for a full charge.
2. If the voltage or current from the charger is unsuitable, you can try replacing the charger. If you are using an extension cable, try charging directly with the 1-meter cable to avoid voltage loss.

Why isn’t the lithium battery motor charging?

Customer: The ZM25EL-1.3/25 motor’s charging light is flashing, and it won’t charge.

Tracy Yang Xiaocui:
Is the motor’s indicator light staying red when charging?
Customer: The red light flashes and won’t stay on. I think there may be an issue with the battery.
Tracy Yang Xiaocui:
I consulted with our engineers, and it seems like the battery might be faulty. We recommend returning the motor for inspection and repair.
Inspection results: The reason the motor isn’t charging is due to a defective battery, which needs to be replaced.

Customer: I have several ZM25 lithium battery motors. When I plug in the charging cable, the red light comes on but goes off after 2 minutes. Neither the red nor the green light stays on. What’s the problem?

Tracy Yang Xiaocui:
Is the motor new and unused? How long have you had it?
Customer: It’s new, but it’s been sitting in storage for at least six months.
Tracy Yang Xiaocui:
I asked the engineers, and for motors from six months ago, only the red light would turn on. If it hasn’t been used and the power switch hasn’t been turned on, the battery would be fully charged. It’s recommended to charge it every three months to prevent battery discharge and to prolong the motor’s lifespan.

Customer: My ZM25 lithium battery motor has been charging for over 72 hours, but I still can’t get it to charge. I’ve tried resetting and deleting the limit switch.

Tracy Yang Xiaocui:
Don’t use an extension cord. Try charging it directly with the included 1-meter cable.
Customer: I’m using the cable provided with the set.
Tracy Yang Xiaocui:
I’m referring to the extra 2-meter extension cord you might be using to make charging more convenient. Longer cables cause voltage drop, and if the drop is too large, the charging chip will automatically shut down. Try using just the 1-meter cable and check if charging works normally.
Customer: It worked fine now.

Customer: For the ZM83 lithium battery curtain motor, the manual says it must charge for at least 6 hours. The motor doesn’t show a charging indicator light.

Tracy Yang Xiaocui:
Please follow the instructions in the image and turn the motor’s switch on as indicated.
Customer: It works fine now.
Summary: When charging the ZM83 lithium battery curtain motor, make sure the switch inside the motor module box is turned on for charging to work and the red light to appear.

Instruction:

Customer: If the switch on the 83 lithium battery motor is turned off, can it still charge?

Tracy Yang Xiaocui:
Yes, it can, but there will be no indicator light.

Customer: I charged the 85 bead chain motor for 11 hours, but the motor’s red light is still flashing quickly. I’ve tried using different charging cables, but the charging port is loose, so it won’t charge. It was working fine at first, but now it’s like this.

Tracy Yang Xiaocui:
The charging plug must be 5V/3A. Check the motor’s current battery level using the app. A slow flashing red light can indicate two things:
1. The battery is nearly full but hasn’t reached the cutoff voltage yet, so it will flash slowly. This doesn’t affect the charging, as the battery is already full.
2. The charging cable might be too long, or the charging head’s power is insufficient, causing a voltage drop that brings it below the cutoff value, which also causes the slow flashing red light.

Customer: Why isn’t the indicator light on while charging the 85 lithium battery bead chain motor?

Tracy Yang Xiaocui:
First, plug the charging cable into your phone to confirm the power source is working.
Second, if the phone charges, plug the cable into the motor. If the motor’s indicator light doesn’t come on, leave it plugged in for 10 minutes and check the temperature of the charger or motor. If the temperature increases, it means charging is happening normally. The issue may be with the red indicator light being faulty, but it won’t affect usage. Once the green light turns on, it will be fully charged and ready for use.
Third, if the charger temperature doesn’t rise, it means charging isn’t occurring. This could be due to poor contact or damage at the charging port (C-type), and the motor will need to be repaired.

Customer: While continuously charging, the battery level shows 0%. When not plugged in, it keeps beeping. What’s the issue? (For the Mi Home Bluetooth 85 bead chain motor)

Tracy Yang Xiaocui:
To check the current battery level, press the stop button. The motor will stop to update the battery level.
Customer: Can I check it with both the remote and the app?
Tracy Yang Xiaocui:
Yes, both the remote and the app can check it.

Customer: The lithium battery motor flashes red and green but is working fine. What’s going on?

Tracy Yang Xiaocui:
Is the charging cable plugged in while you’re using it?
Customer: Yes.
Tracy Yang Xiaocui:
This likely means the battery is near full charge, but the motor is still using power. It causes the flashing red and green light, but it’s normal and doesn’t affect the motor’s operation. As long as the motor is working fine, there’s no issue.

Will the lithium battery motor alert me when the battery is low?

Customer: For the 25 lithium battery motor, during charging, the charging status is not displayed, right? At what battery level will the motor alert for charging, and at what level will it stop running?

Tracy Yang Xiaocui:
Yes, it only displays the current battery level. The motor will alert you to charge when the battery is around 10%, and it will stop running when it reaches 0%.
Customer: When the battery is at 0%, does this cause the motor to lose its position, lose codes, or disconnect from the network?
Tracy Yang Xiaocui:
No, the 0% is an internal setting of the motor. The battery still has some remaining charge. Even when the power is fully drained, it will not lose its position or codes. If the battery is completely drained, the device will be offline, but once charged, it will automatically come back online.

Customer: For the 25 lithium battery Zigbee version motor, when operating the motor, the battery level is reported, but if there has been no operation for a long time, and the battery is low without being reported, how do I know when to charge it?

Tracy Yang Xiaocui:
The battery level is only reported when the motor is in use. It will not be reported when not in operation. When the battery reaches 0%, it needs to be charged to 50% to resume operation, or you can charge it to 10%, turn off the power switch, and then turn it back on to reset the MCU, which will allow the motor to function normally.
Customer: Why do I need to charge it to over 50% before it works?
Tracy Yang Xiaocui:
This helps extend the battery’s lifespan.

Customer: For the 83 lithium battery motor, when manually pulling the curtain, it doesn’t move and the motor makes a beeping sound. What’s happening?

Tracy Yang Xiaocui:
This is a low battery alarm. The motor cannot operate properly and needs to be charged.

Why does the lithium battery motor consume power quickly?

Customer: I’ve installed 4 sets of roller blinds (ZM25EL-1.3/25 Matter version). One of them is consuming power quickly—after a full charge, operating the blinds twice a day, the battery runs out in just two weeks.

Tracy Yang Xiaocui:
Is the charging plug 5V/2A? Does the green light come on after each full charge?
Customer: Yes, the charging plug is 5V/2A, and the green light comes on when fully charged. The last time I fully charged it was on May 26th, and by June 16th, it started beeping.
Tracy Yang Xiaocui:
When the lithium battery motor starts beeping, it triggers the motor protection program, and it must be charged to more than 50% before it can operate. This happens because the module didn’t enter sleep mode and was continuously in high-power standby, which caused excessive power consumption.
Customer: Can I remove the device and add it again after charging, or should I wait until it’s fully charged before reconnecting it?
Tracy Yang Xiaocui:
Both methods work, and it doesn’t matter which order you do it in.
Customer: Okay, but what if the motor is not connected to a smart device but is still consuming power quickly? I’ve encountered this issue before.
Tracy Yang Xiaocui:
If the motor is not connected to a smart device, don’t reset the motor. If you’ve reset it, turn off the power switch, wait for 10 minutes, and then turn it back on. After resetting, the module will be in pairing mode.

Customer: The 16 tube motor lithium battery version only lasts 2-3 weeks on a full charge, even with two uses per day. Is this normal?

Tracy Yang Xiaocui:
The 16 motor has a smaller battery capacity. The heavier the curtains and the higher the installation, the faster it will consume power. It depends on the actual usage.

How long does the lithium battery motor last? How often should it be charged? How long can it run on a full charge?

Customer: For the ZM16-EL Zigbee lithium battery motor, how long does a full charge last? Is it normal for it to last only three weeks?

Tracy Yang Xiaocui:
The motor is working fine. The 16 lithium battery is 800mAh, and with 2 hours of charging, it typically lasts 3-4 weeks.
Additionally, the 25 lithium battery (3200mAh) can last 4-6 months with 4-6 hours of charging, and the 35 lithium battery (5000mAh) can last 2-3 months with 6-8 hours of charging.

Customer: How long will the battery last for the 25 motor 1.3N lithium battery version? What if it hasn’t been used for a long time?

Tracy Yang Xiaocui:
With proper maintenance, the battery can typically last up to 10 years. We recommend charging the motor for at least 6 hours every 3 months to extend its lifespan. The motor will give a warning to remind you when charging is needed, as shown below.

Customer: How long is the lithium battery’s lifespan, and how long is the warranty? Can I replace the battery myself?

Tracy Yang Xiaocui:
The lithium battery warranty is 1 year.
The lifespan of the lithium battery depends on maintenance and usage.
You must charge the battery at least once every 3 months for maintenance.
If the motor is used frequently, avoid discharging the battery too much.
Ensure the charging cable and charger match, with the charger’s voltage and current requirements being 5V/2A.
With proper maintenance and correct usage, the battery can last 8-10 years.
We do not recommend replacing the battery yourself, as disassembling the motor may damage parts, especially the electronic components and wiring.

Customer: How long does it take to fully charge the solar version? What is the rating of the long solar panel?

Tracy Yang Xiaocui:
Charge during the best sunlight hours, typically from noon to afternoon. For a 3000mAh battery, it takes about 30 hours to charge, assuming the solar light is direct. The panel rating is 1, with a conversion efficiency of 19.6% (for monocrystalline silicon).

In order to help users better understand our product customization services, the following is an organized list of frequently asked questions, including the customization of logos, manuals, packaging, apps, and specific control versions of curtain motor products. We hope this provides useful references for your needs.

Table of Contents

Can logos, manuals, packaging, and apps be customized?

Customer: Can logos be printed on tracks and accessories?

Tracy Yang Xiaocui:
Tracks, installation bracket, and seals can be printed, but we do not recommend printing on components like runners, chains, aluminum rings, and pulleys as these accessories are too small. Similarly, handles are cylindrical, so printing logos may not yield good results.

Customer: I purchased an 85 curtain robot Matter version motor, and I want to know if you provide printed Chinese and English manuals?

Tracy Yang Xiaocui:
We will print the English Matter manual. However, we do not make a printed Chinese version for the Matter motor (as Matter is primarily for domestic customers). If required, a customized version can be produced.

Customer: I want to customize the outer boxes and labels for curtain robots and beaded motors, can you provide a quote?

Tracy Yang Xiaocui:
1. Outer boxes and label pricing:
The pricing for custom outer boxes and labels depends on the quantity of motors purchased.
Custom outer boxes have a minimum order of 500 sets, and if the quantity is less than 500, the cost will be based on 500 sets.
Labels come in two types: one is printed by us with lower quality, and the other is high quality, with a minimum order of 3,000. Excess materials can be stored free of charge for one year; after that, there will be storage fees. If the order exceeds 100 units, the storage fee is waived.
2. How to determine the price for different products?
If the same outer box is used for different products, the price depends on whether the design of the box is consistent for both products. If the designs are the same, the pricing can be based on the total quantity. If the designs are different, separate pricing for each box will apply.
3. What if the motor version is not yet determined?
If the motor version is not yet confirmed, we will prepare multiple contract versions for you to choose from.

Customer: Is the Tuya app control interface customizable?

Tracy Yang Xiaocui:
The Tuya app control interface can be customized, but customization fees are higher. The exact cost will be evaluated based on the complexity of the interface.

Customer: I want to customize my own app and provide the module. Do I need the SDK?

Tracy Yang Xiaocui:
If you provide your own module, we will supply the Tuya protocol, and you can develop the module control protocol as per the documentation.

Can curtain motors with specific control versions be customized?

Customer: Can a hidden sub transmission box be customized, with a hook similar to the S20 sealing hook, to be used as the starting hook?

Tracy Yang Xiaocui:
This solution is feasible, but we will need to assess the mold cost before proceeding with the design.

Customer: Can the wiring version motor be made with Matter Thread, and what is the minimum order quantity?

Tracy Yang Xiaocui:
Yes, we can make it. The minimum order quantity for this customization is 300 units.

Customer: Can the 83 motor be made with 5-wire configuration? Can the RS 485 protocol version be made?

Currently, we cannot make the 5-wire version of the 83 motor.
We do not have an RS 485 solution for the 83 motor. However, we can offer RS 485 protocol versions for the 52, 53, 70, 75, and 87 curtain motors. We can also implement the dry contact version for the opening and closing curtain motors.

Customer: Can the motor be compatible with the Shangfei track? The 82 motor is compatible with Shangfei track, do you make the 82 motor? What versions can you do? Can you make the dry contact and lithium battery versions?

Tracy Yang Xiaocui:
Currently, our curtain motors are only compatible with the Jialisi track and the tracks we have developed in-house.
We are currently manufacturing the constant power version of the 82 motor, including RF433, Tuya WIFI, Tuya ZIGBEE, and MATTER versions.
The dry contact and lithium battery versions of the 82 motor are not yet available, but we can custom-make them if there is enough demand.
We only produce motors and do not sell transmission box. However, if you require that, the minimum order is 100 units.

Customer: The tubular motor’s RS 485 protocol and dry contact versions are both low-voltage control. If strong voltage control is needed, should I use a standard motor?

Tracy Yang Xiaocui:
For RS 485 protocol, two wires are used, typically 2-wire cables, which can be connected with crystal heads (4P/6P).
For dry contacts, four wires are used, typically 4-wire cables, which can also be connected with crystal heads (4P/6P) or left unconnected based on your specific needs.
Generally, tubular motors with percentage control and RS 485 protocol cannot be used simultaneously. You must choose one. If you want both, you will need to coordinate with our engineering department to customize the solution, with a minimum order quantity.

Customer: Does the motor meet these working conditions, as shown in the diagram?

Tracy Yang Xiaocui:
Yes, the 79 motor has a 5-wire version, which can connect 4 wires: forward/reverse/line/neutral.

What to Do When the Remote Control Doesn’t Respond? Why Can’t It Control the Curtain Motor?

Customer: My ZC175A-9 remote doesn’t respond when I press the jog buttons. The motor doesn’t move at all.

Tracy Yang Xiaocui:
The three jog buttons on the left of the ZC175A-9 remote do not work with curtain track motors or curtain robots when pressed shortly — because these devices don’t support jog movement.
✅ For roller blind motors, short-press jog buttons for fine adjustments.
✅ For curtain motors or curtain robots, long-press jog buttons for 3 seconds to activate percentage control, but make sure the third middle limit is set first. Without this, percentage control won’t work.。

What to Do When the Remote Control Doesn't Respond? Why Can't It Control the Curtain Motor?

Customer: My remote stops working when I switch to channel 3. It charges fine but can’t control the motor.

Tracy Yang Xiaocui:
This could be due to the channel being locked or not properly paired with a motor. Please try:
Switching to a different channel and re-pairing the motor.
Checking if the channel is locked.
✅ After re-pairing, the issue was resolved.
Reminder: The channel number displayed on the remote ≠ a successful pairing. A locked or unpaired channel cannot control the motor.

Customer: My 9-channel remote only accesses 4 channels. Tried unlocking, but it didn’t work.

Tracy Yang Xiaocui:
To restore full channel access, please follow these steps:
Press the SET key 7 times.
Long-press the Down key for 3 seconds.
Press the SET key 4 more times.
Then press the STOP key once.
This resets the remote to allow all channels.

Customer: The left 3 jog keys on my ZC175A-9 remote don’t work when controlling a curtain robot.

Tracy Yang Xiaocui:
That’s normal behavior:
Curtain robots and track motors don’t support jog movement via short-press.
However, if the third limit is set, long-press (3 seconds) enables percentage control.

Customer: The test remote can open/close the motor but can’t stop it. It also doesn’t auto-transmit.

Tracy Yang Xiaocui:
You’re using a custom automatic transmission remote. Here’s how it works:
Power the motor and complete limit setting first.
Connect the remote to a power source (charging cable).
Pair the remote with the motor — it will only send open/close signals (not stop).
It will automatically transmit commands every 3 minutes.
✅ The customer waited 3 minutes, and the auto signal was successfully sent.

Customer: Pressing the SET key on the motor doesn’t make it shake. I can’t pair with the remote. Also, the motor won’t respond in the Matter app.

Tracy Yang Xiaocui:
Here’s what’s likely happening:
❌ The motor won’t shake just by pressing the SET button — that’s a common misunderstanding.
✅ Correct pairing steps:
Long-press the SET key for 5 seconds to clear previous pairing.
Choose the correct channel on the remote.
Press the motor’s SET key once — you’ll hear a “Di” sound.
Then press the Up key on the remote.
The motor will vibrate if pairing is successful.
📌 For Matter motors, you must set upper and lower limits before the motor will respond in the app.

What should I do if the remote control’s range is not sufficient? Can the button icons be modified?

Customer: My remote only works within 3-5 meters when controlling the ZM89 motor. What can I do?

Tracy Yang Xiaocui:
Thanks for your feedback. After testing the returned units, we found:
The internal antenna has limited range.
After upgrading to an external antenna, the range improved to over 10 meters.
We’ve shipped the upgraded version for your testing. If performance meets expectations, we can use this solution moving forward.
✅ Customer confirmed this solution works well.

Customer: On my ZC176A-1 remote, the percentage display colors for 20% and 70% seem reversed. Can it be fixed?

Tracy Yang Xiaocui:
The percentage icons on ZC176A-1 remotes are customizable. We’ve forwarded your feedback to our engineering team — future versions can be updated based on your preference.

How can the remote control control multiple motors? How do I reverse the direction?

Customer: I want to control multiple motors, but only some of them at a time. Is that possible?

Tracy Yang Xiaocui:
Yes! Remote control channels work independently:
✅ If you want to control multiple motors at once, pair them to the same channel.
✅ If you want separate control, assign each motor to a different channel.
✅ The same motor can also be paired to multiple channels or multiple remotes for more flexibility.

Customer: I’m using a 9-channel remote to control 5 curtain motors. Some of them open in reverse. Can I adjust the motor direction?

Tracy Yang Xiaocui:
Yes! You can reverse individual motor directions using the remote:
Switch to the target motor’s channel.
Quickly press the SET key 4 times.
Then press the Up key once — the motor will reverse its direction.

Change the remote control direction:

How to Choose the Right Remote Control?

Customer: I want a “battery remote”. Which battery type should I choose?

Tracy Yang Xiaocui:
Good question! Please confirm the exact battery type before ordering:
Do you need a built-in rechargeable battery (like lithium)?
Or a remote that supports removable batteries?
Is it rechargeable or non-rechargeable (disposable)?
📌 Don’t assume it’s a lithium battery — clarify the exact battery type to avoid mismatches.

Common Questions About Remote Control Charging

Customer: What types of remote controls does ZH Currtain Company provide? Which ones are rechargeable?

Tracy Yang Xiaocui: Currently, the company offers rechargeable remote controls including models ZC168A-9 and ZC169A-9. These products are equipped with built-in lithium batteries and support charging. Other models—ZC171A-9, ZC175A-9, ZC176A-1, ZC177A-2, ZC186A-9, ZC185A-9—are battery-powered and do not support charging; alkaline batteries must be replaced when depleted.

Customer: How to determine if the remote control is fully charged? Is alternating red and green light a malfunction?

Tracy Yang Xiaocui: During charging, the red indicator light means charging is in progress. As the battery approaches full charge, the red and green lights alternate—this is normal. Once fully charged, the red light turns off, and the green light remains solid.
Indicator Light Status for Rechargeable Models (with 5V 2A charger):
Charging: Red light solid
Nearly full: Red and green lights alternating
Fully charged: Green light solid
Charging time: About 1 hour
Usage time after full charge: Approximately 3 months (assuming 2 uses per day)

2ZC169A-9NoneRed light stays onRed and green light flash alternatelyGreen light stays onAbout 1 hourCan be used for about 3 months with twice daily usage

Customer: Why does the remote control have such short usage time after charging?

Tracy Yang Xiaocui: If models ZC168A-9 or ZC169A-9 only work for 3–5 days after charging and then fail to control the motor or display on the screen, the main cause is battery aging, leading to rapid power loss or inability to store energy.
Solutions:
1. Repair/Replacement: Contact after-sales service or a local dealer to replace with the same original battery or a new remote control.
2. Regular charging maintenance: Charge the remote every 3 months (even if unused) to slow battery aging and extend service life.

Customer: What should I do if the remote control does not respond or the screen does not light up while charging?

Tracy Yang Xiaocui: This is often due to improper charger selection. Please check the following:
Ensure the charger is 5V 2A.
Use chargers with safety certifications (CCC, CE, FCC, UL).
Prefer original or recommended chargers to avoid unstable voltage.
If the issue persists, the battery may be aged—contact after-sales for further testing or replacement.

Customer: Does the remote control require maintenance if not used for a long time?

Tracy Yang Xiaocui: Both rechargeable and battery-powered remotes should not be left unused for extended periods. Lithium batteries self-discharge, so charge every 3 months. For battery models, check power levels regularly and remove batteries if not in use.
For rechargeable models (e.g., ZC168A-9, ZC169A-9):
Red light = charging
Red/green alternating = nearly full
Green light = fully charged
For battery-powered models with indicator lights (e.g., ZC176A-1, ZC177A-2):
Red light when pressing button = battery has power
No light = likely depleted or contact issue
For battery-powered models without indicator lights (e.g., ZC171A-9, ZC175A-9):
No response when pressing buttons = likely out of power
Delayed or unstable control = low battery

ZC176A-1 Button Indicator Light Status:

Customer: The remote control suddenly stopped working—does that mean it’s out of power?

Tracy Yang Xiaocui: Yes. For battery-powered models, if pressing buttons shows no display or red light, the battery may be depleted. For rechargeable models, lack of charging over a long period may also cause complete power loss.

Customer: The remote control displays normally, but why can’t it control the motor?

Tracy Yang Xiaocui: If the remote shows normally but the motor does not respond:
Check whether the remote is paired with the motor.
If still unresponsive, check whether the motor is damaged.
Verify if the motor limit settings overlap.
If none of these resolve the issue, contact after-sales for repair.

What should I do if the smart curtain motor cannot connect to the app?

Customer: The Zigbee version of the curtain motor cannot use the timer function. How can this be resolved?

Tracy Yang Xiaocui:
If the motor cannot use the timer function, please follow the steps below to troubleshoot (applies to both curtain motors and tubular motors):
1. Before using the timer function, please check whether the motor’s open/close direction matches what is displayed in the app interface.
A mismatch in direction may cause the timer to fail.
2. If the direction is incorrect, you can adjust it using either the “Reverse Operation” function in the app or the “Direction Change” button on the remote control.
Once the direction is aligned, you can proceed to set the timer.

Below are the steps to set the timer when the actual open/close direction of the curtain motor, tubular motor, or curtain robot does not match the app display:

Curtain Motor:

Step 1: Connect to the app and click “More” below

Step 2: Enter the setting interface and click “Motor Reverse”

Step 3: Enter the timing interface

Step 4: Set the time and click Save

What should I do if the smart curtain motor cannot connect to the app?

Tubular Motor:

Step 1: Connect to the app and click “More” below

Step 2: Click “Motor Reverse”

Step 3: Enter the timing interface

Step 4: Set the time and click Save

Curtain Robot:

Step 1: Connect to the app and click “More”

Step 2: If the direction is inconsistent, you need to reverse the operation.

Step 3: Set the position of the robot in the timing interface

Step 4: The 0 here means that the curtain is completely closed. Whether it is set in reverse or not, the position of 0 means that it is completely closed.

Customer: What should I do if the Matter version motor can’t be controlled via the app?

Tracy Yang Xiaocui: Here’s how to troubleshoot the issue:
1. Check the travel length:
All Matter version curtain motors cannot be controlled via the app if the travel (open/close) distance is less than 1 meter (The 75E-DT curtain motor is less than 2.5 meter).
2. Check your iOS version:
Please make sure your iPhone is running iOS 16 or above.
Customer: Got it, issue resolved — the travel distance was set too short.

Customer: When using the Matter protocol to connect the motor to HomeKit, do I need a remote to set the travel limits?

Tracy Yang Xiaocui:
Yes, the curtain motor needs to have the travel limits set, but you don’t need a remote control for this. Otherwise, the tubular motor and bead chain motor need to be set by remote.
Simply mount the Matter version curtain motor onto the track, then manually open and close it once until it reaches both ends. The motor will automatically set the travel limits after detecting the end stops.
(This applies to all Matter version curtain motors.)
⚠️ Be sure to complete the travel limit setup before connecting to the app.
Otherwise, the motor may be added to the app but won’t respond to control commands.

Customer: The Zigbee version motor cannot connect to the network. How can I troubleshoot this?

Tracy Yang Xiaocui:
You can refer to the following Zigbee motor pairing steps to check the issue.
If some devices fail to connect, please follow the steps below to troubleshoot:
1. Check if the motor indicator light is flashing:
Quickly press the motor’s setting button 3 times in a row — check if the blue light turns on.
(Note: Based on practical experience, if the 3 presses are not done quickly enough, the motor may not enter pairing mode. So please press quickly and continuously.)
2. If the blue light turns on, the motor has entered pairing mode. You can then use the mobile app to proceed with the network setup. If the blue light does NOT turn on, it may indicate a hardware issue with the motor.(In this case, we recommend sending a video of the issue to the engineering team to confirm whether the motor needs to be replaced.)
Important:
If both of the following occur:
The motor cannot enter pairing mode
The blue indicator light does not turn on
Then it is likely a hardware problem, and should be confirmed by the engineering team.
This diagnosis method applies to all models and versions of smart curtain motors.

Does ZH CURRTAIN Curtain/Roller Blind Motor Have a One-Click Factory Reset Function?

Tracy Yang Xiaocui: Are you asking if there’s a one-click setting that completely restores the motor to factory settings, including clearing the travel limits, deleting the remote control, and unbinding the APP network settings?
Unfortunately, this feature is not available. These settings need to be deleted separately because, a long time ago, users accidentally damaged the blinds due to incorrect operation. Therefore, we require separate deletion for different settings.

Here are the steps for restoring factory settings for various functions:

Clear All Travel Limits:

Please operate quickly within 5 seconds, otherwise, it will time out.
Click the motor’s “Set Button” 5 times within 5 seconds. The motor will emit a “beep” sound, indicating the setting was successful.

Delete All Remote Control Pairings:

⚠ This will unpair the current motor from all associated remotes.
Please operate quickly within 5 seconds, otherwise, it will time out.

Press and hold the motor’s “Set Button” for 5 seconds, then release. The motor will emit a “beep” sound, indicating the setting was completed.

Factory Reset for APP Network Configuration:

⚠ This step should be used when the gateway cannot find the device or when you need to reconfigure the network.

If pairing fails, try connecting again.

Method 1: With the motor powered on, click the motor’s “Set Button” 3 times within 5 seconds. The motor will emit a “beep” sound and enter pairing mode.

Method 2: Ensure the motor is paired with the remote control. Within 5 seconds, press the remote’s “SET button” 6 times. The display will show “6”, then press the “Stop” button once within 3 seconds. The motor will emit a “beep” sound and enter pairing mode. (Please ensure the motor is connected to the remote before using this method.)

How long will the pairing mode last before it returns to standby?

Typically, the pairing mode will last for 10 minutes.

Is it normal for AC tubular motors to reach 100°C within 4 minutes?

Customer: The temperature of the 35 Zigbee tubular motor becomes very high during operation. It reached over 90°C in just 2 minutes, and the customer reported it going above 100°C.

Tracy Yang Xiaocui: Yes, the 35 motor has a built-in 4-minute overheat protection mechanism. When the motor reaches a certain temperature threshold, it will automatically stop operating to protect itself.

Why does the AC tubular motor get so hot during operation? Is it normal for the tubular motor to reach 100°C?

Tracy: Yes, it is normal. In the industry, AC tubular motors tend to heat up during operation. The reason it reached 100°C in 2 minutes is likely due to continuous back-and-forth testing, causing the motor to operate repeatedly without a break.

What is the 4-minute overheat protection?

Tracy: The 4-minute overheat protection is a safety feature in AC tubular motors. During operation, the motor heats up, and its temperature may rise to 100°C within 4 minutes. At this point, the motor automatically stops working to cool down and prevent damage. Once the motor has cooled, it can be used again as normal.

Which motors are classified as AC tubular motors?

Tracy:
AC Tubular Motors: The 35 and 45 motors are AC tubular motors and are equipped with the 4-minute overheat protection feature.
DC Tubular Motors: On the other hand, the 25, 24, and 16 tubular motors are DC tubular motors. These do not have the 4-minute overheat protection feature because they generate less heat during operation and maintain a safe, touchable temperature even after prolonged use.

What is the 4-Minute Overheat Protection in 35/45 AC Tubular Motors? The 4-minute overheat protection is a safety feature in AC tubular motors. During operation, the motor heats up, and its temperature may rise to 100°C within 4 minutes. At this point, the motor automatically stops working to cool down and prevent damage. Once the motor has cooled, it can be used again as normal. ZH Currtain

Why does the AC tubular motor stop working?

Customer: We used the 35 tubular motor for windproof blinds. After issuing a command to close the blinds, the motor went offline and could only be used once or twice after waiting overnight. What could be the issue?

Tracy: This is likely due to the motor entering the 4-minute overheat protection mode. If the motor has been running continuously due to repeated testing, it will heat up quickly and activate its protection mechanism.
Once the motor cools down after a few hours, it can be used again.
Under normal use (not continuous testing), the motor can operate for up to 4 minutes continuously and cover a distance of several meters. However, if it operates continuously without breaks, it will require cooling time.

Does this mean the motor can only work for 4 minutes?

Tracy: If used continuously without pauses, the motor can only work for 4 minutes before activating the overheat protection feature. However, in regular use, this limitation is hardly noticeable. The motor enters protection mode only if it reaches a critical temperature due to extended operation. If not used continuously, it functions normally without entering protection mode.

Customer: Yes, it is. During installation, we conducted repeated tests, which exceeded the 4-minute limit. After some time, the motor was controllable again, which indicates it had entered the 4-minute overheat protection mode.

This is our company 35 Motor Temperature Rise Testing Report as below, please kindly check it, or download:

Customer: Is the curtain motor mechanical clutch or electromagnetic? Can it be manually pulled?

Tracy Yang Xiaocui: The curtain motor uses a mechanical clutch and supports manual pull-start.

Does the Matter curtain motor also work this way?

Tracy: Yes, the Matter curtain motor is also equipped with a mechanical clutch and supports manual pull-start. By default, all our curtain motors support manual operation, allowing easy manual pulling even during power outages. Unless you specifically request a custom motor without manual pull functionality, all our curtain motors, including electric curtain tracks and motorized curtain systems, are manual-friendly.

Does the curtain motor make noise during operation? Is there any electrical noise when the mechanical curtain motor is idle?
